Early
childhood brain development has a very deep impact on the growth of a child. A
newborn’s brain is about a quarter of the size of the average adult brain.
Interestingly, it doubles in size in the first year. 90% of the human brain is
developed by the age of five. The parents, as well as the teachers, need to
focus on the brain development of a child at this stage. The Heritage School
North Campus, top school CBSE Dehradun, explains the importance of early brain
development.
The
human brain is made up of brain cells called neurons that create connections
known as synapses. These connections are formed when the child encounters
different experiences, ranging variedly from one to another. Every new
experience creates new connections in the brain. The repetition of the
experiences sends repeated synapses to the brain and strengthens the
connections. Similarly, connections that are not used often disappear.
The
formation of new neurons and synapses is fastest at the time of birth and
gradually slows down, and that is the reason that the toddlers can learn faster
than the adults. At the time of the birth of a child, the brain has already
grown to 25% of adult size, and by the age of 3, the human brain reaches 80% of
its adult size. Different areas of the brain handle different functions. The
optimal time for enhancing the brain function is when the brain cells are being
created in the relevant area of the brain and the synapses are constantly being
programmed.
Loving
relationships with parents who consistently give attention, respond, and
interact with their child are essential to a child’s healthy development. Being
one of the best CBSE schools in Dehradun, we put great emphasis and focus on
the early brain development of a child in his/her growing years.
